Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Harold Ford Jr. attacked his opponent's ties to the oil industry at a Thursday morning press conference in West Knoxville.
From a sidewalk in front of a Pilot Oil station on North Cedar Bluff Road, Ford also challenged Republican candidate Bob Corker to produce his full tax returns and show a willingness to take part in public debates.
"I'll meet him wherever he wants, any time he wants," Ford said, even if that means the debate would take place at "that beautiful mansion of his."
We need support for Ford Jr.

Bush popular, they say, but MTSU poll finds drop

Negative public opinion about the war in Iraq won't be much of a factor in next month's Republican U.S. Senate primary, according to the three main candidates.
Former Chattanooga Mayor Bob Corker and former U.S. Reps. Ed Bryant and Van Hilleary say Republican primary voters in Tennessee generally support President Bush and the war in Iraq.
The candidates instead are focusing on issues like abortion, immigration and federal spending.
But a Middle Tennessee State University poll released in March found Bush's approval rating in the state was 42 percent -- from 55 percent a year earlier -- while one in four of those polled said the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were the No. 1 problem for the country.

WASHINGTON - (KRT) - In an interview Tuesday, Vice President Dick Cheney said the Bush re-election victory provided a mandate "for the notion of personal retirement accounts" and that Democrats would pay a political price among younger voters if they blocked them.

Recount in Ohio A Sure Thing; Green Party Campaign Raises $150,000 in 4 Days, Shifts Gears to Phase II
WASHINGTON -- November 15 -- There will be a recount of the presidential vote in Ohio.
On Thursday, David Cobb, the Green Party's 2004 presidential candidate, announced his intention to seek a recount of the vote in Ohio. Since the required fee for a statewide recount is $113,600, the only question was whether that money could be raised in time to meet the filing deadline. That question has been answered.

Why Should I ever vote again?
Wed Nov 03, 2004 at 09:22:44 AM PDT
I live in a red southern state (NC) and before even one vote is cast you can tell who will win. The person with the R beside their name because they are the god fearin, and gun lovin. They oppose the homosexual agenda whatever the hell that is.
I cannot see this changing anytime in my lifetime.
It is a worthless waste of time and energy to go to the polls.
I felt a huge amount of energy for the KE ticket in NC only to see it go down in flames.
Today is a sad day for America and the saddest part is there is little or no hope.
Just wanted to get this of my chest.
